The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The newest Far Cry title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for delighting in action and insanity with the same glee, all while weaving captivating, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose work have represented all of those things.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' format by featuring a new location and cast of characters in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our mutual irreverent, ambitious approach to the television.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
